In the Southern part of Amami Islands Setouchi which is an inland waterway fully protected by beautiful hilly islands, and boasting stunning waters and white sandy beaches.
Setouchi village is located right in the middle of the natural scenic waterway and the subtropical islands of Ukeshima, Yoroshima and Kakeroma make the breakwater for this pristine location which has lots of great anchorages.
It is a place to play, relax, go ashore and eat with local people in the sleepy village or hike the forested hills and take in the magnificence of this area.
Ankyaba the remains of a military installation which was to observe this area to ensure the safety of the fleets anchored in the strait.
Katoku Beach surrounded by the mountains on its three sides, a great spot for swimming and surfing.
Honohoshi Beach round stones make a sort of rolling sound when they are hit by the waves
Shodonshibaya The dancing and music is performed by an all-male cast wearing masks, highly regarded as a cultural treasure.
UKEYURI A lily that ranges only on Amami-oshima and its neighboring islands designated as an engaged species.
