Koshiki Retto
Wild natural islands with rugged cliffs and untouched bays
Koshiki Islands are wild natural islands of immense beauty, the much lower population down here assists with the blue clarity of the water, a perfect stop for us to anchor and get the sea toys out.
An afternoon wander through the local village will have you delight at the narrow streets and old stone walls surrounding “Bukeyashiki” (houses) followed by a short hike to a 55m high waterfall.
Even our departure from the islands will prove to be scenic with rugged cliffs and untouched bays.
Nagamenohama Beach the sandy reef stretches approx..4km, home to living microorganisms which first appeared 3 billion years ago.
Kashima Cliff Towering at 150metres tall and showing its sharp horizontal layers. In the surrounding area there are many large and strangely shaped rocks.
Napoleon Rock An enormous rock standing at 127metres is named after the Emperor of the French, Napoleon, when viewed from the side.
