Fukuoka & Omuta
Friendly people, fantastic ramen, Japan’s biggest festival
Our journey ends here in fabulous vibrant city of Fukuoka.
Fantastic shopping, restaurants & nightlife, here in Fukuoka, a vibrant modern and young person city.
Venture out into the city in the evening to eat with the locals in traditional Yatai street stalls, often found in the district of Nakasu. This food is some of the best real Japanese food, and costs thousands to eat in fine restaurants in the West. Here young and old, rich and poor eat fabulous food together!
We will either drive down or take the morning Shinkansen (bullet train( to Omuta to meet the Swordsmiths. We will be joined by Paul Martin, who is the world’s leading non-Japanese sword expert, and we will learn and experience handling a live blade Katana, with a sword master using the traditional samurai training techniques.
Back to the boat by mid- afternoon to depart towards the Kanmon Kaikyo and into the Seto Naikai. The Inland Sea of Japan.
