Japan’s first port of call
In the 1870’s during the Meji restoration, Yokohama became the trading port town for Japan. Settlers from all over the world came to live here to trade shipped goods into Japan. Therefore Yokohama rapidly became a very cosmopolitan city, quite different from nearby Tokyo.
Explore the fabulous shopping in ultra-modern Minato Mirai, with drinks atop of the landmark tower, or browse the luxury boutiques in the super chic Motomachi shopping street. Close by are the backstreets of Basamichi with hidden restaurants and fun nightlife, which merges into the Kannai district with the Yokohama Baystars baseball stadium and the largest China Town in Japan.
