Toba/Ise
Home of the sun goddess
Anchor off Toba which is a great jumping off point to visit Ise and the designated National Treasure Ise Jingu, or “The Shrine”.
This is considered the most important and holy Shinto shrine dedicated to the Sun god and ancestor of the Imperial Family “Amaterasu”. An “outer shrine” separated from the Inner Shrine by a 4- mile path is dedicated to the goddess of food, agriculture, industry clothing, and shelter. She was brought to Ise to oversee the offering of sacred food to Amaterasu. Although access to the shrines is strictly limited to the Imperial Family the surrounding area holds a peaceful ambience.
The anchorage itself is quiet, calm and picturesque, and fine to play on and enjoy the ocean.
